Rural Addressing
In Queensland, the responsibility for property addressing (street address) rests with respective local governments. QSIC provides statewide coordination for the rural addressing initiative in Queensland.
A rural address consists of an address number related to a unique road name within any given locality.
Benefits of residents having a logically established rural address are far reaching. There will be an improved response to emergency situations and it will help local authorities in the delivery of services and administration.
A rural address will also assist with mail and other service deliveries including medical and vet services. It will create a vital database for a wide range of government agencies and eliminate duplicate datasets.
At present 116 Queensland Councils are actively involved in Rural Addressing with 93 of these Councils having completed the process.
