Discover Spatial Sciences
Spatial refers to place, space or location. Since everything is "somewhere" on the earth's surface, spatial information and spatial technologies have broad ranging and important uses. The spatial industry helps us understand our world, its people and solve issues relating to the environment, hazards and development from a community to a global scale.
Wouldn't you like to be involved in creating the world of tomorrow?
Where are the bushfires spreading to? Where should the new shopping centre be located? Where are our endangered species and how can we protect them?
Spatial technologies include any software or hardware that interact with real world locations. Exploring your world virtually with Google Earth, Google Maps, Virtual Earth or NASA World Wind is interacting with GIS (Geographic Information System). Recording data with a GPS (Global Positioning System) or navigating the streets with car satellite navigation is using GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System).
